Cuban Federation express gratitude for condolences
HAVANA, Cuba, June 15, 2014 – The Cuban National Volleyball
Federation sent a circular message expressing its gratitude to
all institutions and persons who expressed their condolences on
the occasion of the passing away of its former president and
longtime coach Eugenio George Laffita.
The legendary coach, who coached the women’s Cuban team to three
consecutive Olympic gold medals, died on May 31 in Havana after
a long illness.
The message signed by current president Ariel Sainz Rodriguez,
states:
“To all those who one way or another have communicated with us
in these days to send messages of condolences for the
irreparable loss of Eugenio George Laffita, we want to express
our utmost sincere thanks for accompanying us in our sorrow, he
was and will be eternal, teacher, friend, colleague at work, and
inspiration for his infinite love for volleyball.”
“All the respect messages received have been transmitted to
their beloved family to whom we are united in their pain
together with the Cuban people who mourned the loss of this
paladin who became, with his work and devotion, in the all-time
Father of Volleyball.” |
