Cuban Roamy Alonso MVP of Challenger in Havana
HAVANA, Cuba, June 1, 2019 - Roamy Alonso of Cuba was named the
Most Valuable Player of the Norceca Challenger Men's Volleyball
Tournament, which concluded tonight with the victory of the
local team and a seat in the World Qualifying Final the League
of Nations.
Alonso himself, who turns just 22 next month, was the best
blocker and in that position his partner Javier Concepción was
second.
Also from the home team, left-hander Jaime Herrera won the most
outstanding opposite; Marlon Yang in the service and reception,
and Adrián Goide as a setter.
From Puerto Rico, the top scorer award was claimed by the
opposite Javier Rodríguez (36 points), and the defender and
libero went to Amel Cabrera.
In the attack the most distinguished in this order were the
Cuban Miguel Ángel López and the Mexican Gonzalo Ruiz.
Cuba concluded with records of two victories, Puerto Rico 1-1
and Mexico 0-2. |
