BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December
9, 2015 - Curaçao girls guaranteed a playoff spot in the 10th
CAZOVA Junior Championships with a marathon five setter win over
Guadeloupe on Day Three of action at the Wildey Gym, Bridgetown.
With three players making
double figure contributions, Curaçao took the match 25-27,
25-16, 25-11, 16-25, 15-12. Anais Conradus with 15 points, Giani
Hooi with 14 and Sharneska Esclodina with 12 squeezed out the
close Group C victory.
The match was the first which
went the full distance as both teams battled one minute short of
two hours.
Remyka Boudine countered with
15 points comprising 10 kills and four aces while Ysiah Viellot
added 10 points for Guadeloupe who desperately needed the win to
advance in the top two. Guadeloupe have ended with one win and
two losses with the United States Virgin Islands looking the
likely first or second qualifier from that Group.
The USVI were to end their
preliminary games later in the day with a match against the
defending champions, Martinique. |
