BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, December 8, 2015 - Curaçao boys almost
guaranteed themselves a spot in the medal round by winning their
second Group A match when Day Two of the CAZOVA junior
championships continued at the Wildey Gym in Bridgetown today.
Playing a very strong attacking game Curaçao defeated the United
States Virgin Islands in straight sets 26-28, 25-16, 25-16.
Leading the charge for the winners once again was outside
attacker Shruendy Valeriano who was head and shoulders above
everyone else with 11 exciting kills and eight vicious aces.
The USVI's best counter came from Miguel Lopez who hammered six
kills and executed four blocks for his team. However, USVI made
too many unforced errors to be now holding a record of one win
and one loss.
On Thursday, Day Four, Curaçao will play their final preliminary
game which will be against Guadeloupe where a victory would see
Curaçao topping the group unbeaten. Guadeloupe like the USVI
have one win and one loss. On Thursday USVI will meet Aruba who
are yet to win after two matches. |
