Defending champions start with double victory

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador, December 9, 2016 – Denis López and Jefferson Cascante of Nicaragua-1 began the defense of their men’s title with a double victory in the opening day of the IX Central American Junior Beach Volleyball Championship on Friday.

Lopez and Cascante started their day with a 21-10, 21-16 victory over Carlos Rodríguez and Cristian Vargas of El Salvador and closed with a well fought win over Honduras’ Carlos Ramos and César Paz 21-15, 17-21, 15-4.

Guatemala’s Wagner Chacón and Erik Flores also were double winners on Friday. Early in the day they beat Gustavo Alvarado and David Franco of El Salvador-2 by scores of 21-4, 21-8 and finished with a 21-19, 21-17 win against Costa Ricans Sebastian Valenciano and Marco Miranda.
