Delegation of Matsudo meet with volleyball representatives
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, January 18, 2017 – The
authorities of the Japanese city of Matsudo, near Tokyo, has
extended an invitation to Dominican Republic’s volleyball team
to train there before participating in the 2020 Olympic and
Paralympic Games.
Similar invitations were received by the representatives of the
disciplines of karate, taekwon-do and softball.
The Matsudo delegation is led by Mr. Hiroyuki Shirai, director
of Culture, Tourism and International Relations, who visited
with the Minister of Sports, Mr. Danilo Díaz, and before meeting
with the representatives of the sport federations included in
the invitation at the Dominican Olympic premises in Santo
Domingo.
At the Olympic Committee, the Japanese delegation was received
by Mr. Antonio Acosta, general secretary of the institution.
Mr. Shirai and the Matsudo delegation were accompanied by the
Ambassador of Japan in the Dominican Republic, H.E. Hiroyuki
Makiuchi and personnel of the diplomatic agency in the Dominican
capital.
The delegation from the Rising Sun nation is visiting the
country with the goal of reinforcing the dialogue about the
training camps for Dominican athletes in a total of eleven
sports.
The volleyball federation was represented by Mr. Cristobal Marte
Hoffiz, first vice president, Nelson Ramirez, general
secretary, and Amos Anglade, member.
During the meeting with Minister Díaz the Japanese delegation
proposed that a Dominican group composed by representatives of
the Olympic Committee and the Sport Ministry visit their country
to check the existing facilities for training.
“Our desire is the Dominican athletes to enjoy the best result
possible in Tokyo 2020 and that is why we are offering the
different facilities for training,” Shiray said.
“The city of Matsudo has different practice areas near Tokyo
which would be ideal for the preparation of the Dominican
athletes,” he added. |
