Development of Beach Volleyball is top priority in Central
America
GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala, February 20, 2014. - The two-day
General Assembly of AFECAVOL’s General Assembly concluded on
Thursday with key decisions regarding the development of beach
volleyball in the region adopted by the seven members of the
Central American zone within NORCECA Confederation
AFECAVOL President Marta Centeno de Sajche presented the annual
report of the FIVB Development Centre in Dominican Republic
which reflected the valuable effects of the different courses,
seminars as well as the permanent assistance of Cuban Coach
Rafael Navelo Cabello as itinerant instructor.
Centeno de Sajche recommended each National Federation to
analyze the evaluation provided by Navelo Cabello to contribute
to a more appropriate technical instruction and development this
year. The representatives of the National Federations
acknowledged the positive influence from this specific program
and requested NORCECA to establish the same program for Beach
Volleyball.
NORCECA President Cristobal Marte Hoffiz requested from the
Central American federations to urge those who have received
instruction form the Development Centre to share it back within
their countries as an additional tool for education, which is
the key for development.
He also presented the FIVB Report explaining completion formats,
regulations, team distribution and the innovation in the awards
that will be put to the test in the upcoming tournaments.
An important date in the calendar was determined as on December
19-21 AFECAVOL will celebrate an Elective Assembly to the
Executive Committee of the regional governing body for the
period 2015-2018 where reelection will be permitted.
Several important Continental Championships will be held in
Central American countries (see calendar of events posted in
NORCECA’s website) this year with Marte Hoffiz expressing his
confidence in the organizational capability of AFECAVOL.
“After the intensive and productive sessions I have a clear
picture of the well executed programs in Central American
granted by AFECAVOL’s presidency,” Marte Hoffiz stated in his
closing speech. “It is my duty to recognize your efficient work
and the responsibility with which this zone performs gives
stability and credibility to the NORCECA Confederation.
Your accomplishments support the future of volleyball”. |
