Diego Gonzalez named MVP of the Men’s Cup

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 9, 2021 – Mexican Diego Gonzalez was elected as Most Valuable Player of the Men’s Volleyball Pan American Cup won by his team with a straight set victory over Canada on Thursday night.

Canada got the lion’s share at the award ceremony when five members of the North American squad were named to the All-Star of the event.

Canadians Brodie Hofer and Jesse Elser were elected as first and second outside hitter while countrymen Jackson Howe, Derek Epp and Colton Loewen made the team as first middle blocker, best setter and best receiver, respectively.

Puerto Rican Jose Pacheco took home the medals as best digger and best libero, while Dominican Republic’s Henry Tapia was awarded as best server, best scorer and best opposite hitter.

USA’s Merrit McHenry completed the Ideal Team as the second middle blocker.
