Dominica dismantles Grenada to record first win
ST GEORGE , Grenada, June 22- Zahido Henry and Marcia Gustave
both scored ten points each to fillip Dominica’s 3-0 (25-19,
25-12, 25-11
)
win at the expense of Grenada in match four of Group N of the
Second Round of the NORCECA Women’s 2014 World Championships,
here at the Laborie Indoor Facility.
The Dominicans needed only fifty- five minutes to dismantle the
Grenadians.
Such was the performance of the host, that no one crossed double
figures in scoring, with Jomelar Billy – six points, leading
from in front for her team.
The win for Dominica redeemed their fortunes, after losing to
Panama in their opening fixture, while Grenada was condemned to
their second defeat in as many matches.
Coach of Dominica- Albert Loblack opined that the match against
Grenada was an easy one, but which would help them physically
for their next encounter with Haiti.
“… We were able to run our offences and get our passes together,
which was good for us. They did not push us too much so we were
able to execute our plays … Against Haiti we must win if we are
to get a chance to qualify”, Loblack expressed.
Grenada’s Coach Adam Lafeuillee though his team played better
than their previous outing against Haiti, but there were too
many lapses.
“We played a bit better, but there was that lack of
concentration as we were unable to block off the Dominica middle
as we should have and we did not get enough attacking from our
side”, Lafeuillee said.
Dominica meets Haiti in the first match- Sunday morning,
thereafter winless Grenada plays Panama in match six, as the
preliminary phase of the group closes off. |
