Dominican Federation and NORCECA mourns the death of Dr. Josefina Cordero

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, May 30, 2019 – NORCECA Confederation joins the Dominican Volleyball Federation in mourning the death of Dr. Josefina Cordero after a long battle with cancer.

Dr. Cordero, a member of the Dominican Sport Medicine Federation, was a medical doctor who frequently accompanied the Dominican women’s national team at international competitions until she became ill several years ago.

“Over the years, Dr. Cordero offered valuable services to our team as a doctor and as a friend as she developed an outstanding relationship with the players,” said Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, the president of the female program of the Dominican Federation.

During her long career in the sports, Dr. Cordero received many recognitions from several public and private institutions, including the Dominican Olympic Committee.
