Dominican Larysmer Martinez leads World Cup in defense
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 21, 2019 –
Dominican Larysmer Martinez is the best digger of the FIVB
Women’s Volleyball World Cup when each of the twelve teams
have completed five matches.
Martínez has an average of 3.81 digs per set which far
exceeds the second place occupant who is the Korean Hae Ran
Kim with 2.94.
USA’s Kelsey Robinson has been the best receiver with an
efficiency of 52.86 with 39 excellent receptions out of 70
attempts. Robinson is also the second best attacker with
54.44% behind China’s Zhu Ting with 59.13. American Jordan
Larson is fourth with 47.62.
Dominican Brayelin Martinez is the third best scorer with 88
points, behind Serbia’s Ana Bjelica who leads with 120 and
Russia’s Nataliya Goncharova who is next with 92. Her
compatriot Bethania de la Cruz occupies the ninth position
with 66 points.
Larson and De la Cruz are among the best servers with 7 and
6 aces, respectively, while American Jordyn Poulter and
Dominican Niverka Marte are sixth and tenth among the
setters with 9.12 and 5.19, respectively.
