Dominican Republic President receives a plaque of recognition

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 16, 2018 – The President of the Dominican Republic, H.E. Danilo Medina received an impressive pyrography plaque from the organizers of the XVII Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup recently concluded in Santo Domingo.

President Medina had accepted his designation as Patron of the Pan American Cup proposed by the organizers and the Dominican Volleyball Federation.

 

The plaque was presented by Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of the Female Program of the Federation, accompanied by Luis Mejia Oviedo, president of the Dominican Olympic Committee, Danilo Diaz, Minister of Sports, and Major General Elvis Feliz Pérez, who presided over the organizing committee of the annual intercontinental competition.

 

The handicraft work, which shows in its center the effigy of the Dominican president, was presented in recognition to his support to the national female volleyball teams in all age divisions.

 

Below the effigy it reads: “As a testimony of gratitude to his invaluable moral support and expressions of solidarity and affection towards our National Women's National Teams”. 

 

Marte Hoffiz, who is also president of the North, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) as well as First Executive Vice President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), praised the contributions made by both the Minister of Sports and the President of the Organizing Committee, for the success of the Pan American Cup in Santo Domingo. 

 

The XVII Women’s Pan American Cup was one of the most competitive editions ever and was won by the United States team with Dominican Republic and Canada completing the podium as winners of the silver and bronze medals.
