TIJUANA, Mexico, December 29, 2015 - The Baja California High
Performance Center has become an important site for national
teams in their preparation to the qualifying process in the road
to the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro 2016.
This week prior to New Year’s Eve, the teams of Colombia and
Dominican Republic began a concentration prior to the Olympic
Qualifier tournaments in their respective continental
confederations.
The Dominican team, whose players and coaches are already well
known in the region for their protagonic role during Pan Am Cups
and Continental Championships, expect to get their best of this
training camp as the NORCECA competition that gives one ticket
to Rio 2016 nears.
Meanwhile Colombia, which is slowly gaining notoriety in both
the Pan American Cup tournament and after participating at the
FIVB Grand Prix in 2015, will also prepare and work hard in this
training camp to work towards the Pre-Olympic competition
organized by the South American Volleyball Confederation (CSV).
The NORCECA qualifier will take place from January 7 to January
9 in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska, United States, where along
with the hosts and the Dominican team Canada and Puerto Rico
will play.
The South American Olympic Qualifying tournament will be held
from January 6 to January 10 in the city of Bariloche,
Argentina, where a "round robbin" will be held between five
teams. Along with Colombia and Argentina, Chile, Peru and
Venezuela will compete at this event. |
