Dominican Republic and USA score first wins in Mexico
AGUASCALIENTES, México, July 13, 2019 – The Dominican Republic
recovered from losing to Brazil on Friday with a comfortable 3-0
(25-19, 25-15, 25-14) victory over Rwanda at the U20 Women’s
FIVB World Championship on Saturday.
Flormarie Heredia and Madeline Guillén registered 15 and 10
points, respectively, as the best offensive players for the
winners who are now at 1-1 in Pool D.
In Pool A, United States blanked Mexico 3-0 (25-17, 25-23,
25-21) in the second day of actions. Both teams have now 1-1
win-loss records.
Jeena Weenas and Kendall Kipp led USA with 18 and 12 points,
respectively, while Melanie Parra and Uxue Guereca were the best
for Mexico with 12 and 10.
Also in Pool A, Cuba suffered its second loss this time against
Italy 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-17). Italy’s Fatim Kone and Cuba’s
Ailama Cesé both finished with 11 points as the top scorers in
