Dominican Republic easily wins over Trinidad Tobago
COLIMA, Mexico, August 3, 2025 – The Dominican Republic had no
trouble defeating Trinidad Tobago in three sets, 3-0 (25-9, 25-15,
25-11), to close out the first day of competition at the XXII
Women's Pan American Volleyball Cup on Sunday night.
For the Dominicans, Madeline Guillén and Samaret Caraballo led the
offensive pack, scoring 15 points each, followed by Angélica
Hinojosa with 9.
Kaylon Crickshank led Trinidad Tobago with 10 points.
The Dominican Republic outscored Trinidad in attacks 38-19, in
blocks 7-3, and in serves 14-1.
Marcos Kwiek, Dominican Republic coach: “The team performed very
well, we played our aggressive serve and we didn't make any silly
mistakes. It was very important to stay focused,we know they're
different teams, we respected each other, and we did our job.”
Deon Hutchinson, Trinidad Tobago coach: “We arrived here straight
from the airport, and the players were really tired, so I think my
team played well considering the circumstances. I think when the
players get some rest, we'll have a better performance on the
court.” |
