Dominican Republic finally gets first victory
TUNIS, Tunisia, August 29 2019 – The Dominican Republic
grabbed its first victory at the FIVB U19 Boys’ Volleyball
World Championship after outdueling Mexico 3-2 (25-25,
25-21, 17-25, 23-25, 15-10) in the pool for the 17-20
positions on Wednesday.
In the other match of the pool, Tunisia improved to 2-0 by
defeating Colombia 3-1 (25-20, 24-26, 25-15, 25-21).
One Tuesday, the Dominicans had lost to host Tunisia 3-0
(27-25, 25-21, 26-24) and Mexico had defeated Colombia 3-2
(25-23, 14-25, 18-25, 25-20, 15-11).
They finish their participation on Thursday with Tunisia
playing Mexico and Colombia meeting Dominican Republic.
In the qualification for the 9-16 positions:
Cuba beat Germany 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-21) and Brazil
defeated United States 3-2 (24-26, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17,
15-10).
In the quarterfinals,
Italy d Japan 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-14), Egypt d Belaraus
3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18), Russia d Iran 3-1 Russia d Iran
3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23) and
Argentina d Bulgaria 3-2
(25-19, 21-25, 26-24, 21-25, 15-13).
