Dominican Republic gets first triumph in Langley
LANGLEY, Canada, September 25, 2013 - The Dominican Republic
earned its first victory at the Norceca Men’s Continental
Championship. The Dominicans who now are 1-1 defeated Saint
Lucia 3-0 (25-19, 25-12, 25-23). Last set was a challenge for
the team coached by Osiel Vazquez, after Saint Lucia had a shor
advantage.
However, Elvis Contreras tallied 15 points, while José Miguel
Cáceres scored 9 points for the Dominican cause. For Saint
Lucia, Joseph Clercent finished with 10.
“After winning against Saint Lucia we are in the best six teams
of the tournament, that was our goal, but we had 14 unforced
errors and you cannot do that, fortunatelly we are in a higher
level” stated coach Vazquez.
“It was a good one for us and now We have to wait and see our
rival on the next round,” said captain Wilfrido Hernández.
“The guys did a lot better than the first match. We executed a
lot better because of some unforced errors, but in the end it
was still difficult but we improved some things,” Saint Lucia’s
coach Kendall Charlery said.
“It was really good match, we fought really hard and did a lot
of changes. We received a lot better, but there were some
mistakes in the end that made the difference,” remarked Jason
Octave, captain of Saint Lucia. |
