Dominican Republic ready for Pan Am Cup Challenge
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 1, 2019 – The Female
Program of the Dominican Republic National Volleyball Federation
announced the roster of 14 players that will participate in the
18th edition of the Pan American Cup to take place in the cities
of Chiclayo and Trujillo, Peru from July 6 to 14.
The team just finished playing in the FIVB Volleyball Nations
League 2019 where they finished with a positive 8-7 win-loss
record.
Niverka Marte and Camile Dominguez are the setters with Annerys
Vargas, Candida Arias, Lisvel Eve and Marifranchi Rodríguez as
middles.
Gaila Gonzalez and Gina Mambru are the opposites with Brayelin
Martínez, Bethania de la Cruz, Prisilla Rivera, Yonkaira Peña
and Vielka Peralta as outside hitters and Larysmer Martínez as
libero.
Coach Marcos Kwiek will be assisted by Wilson Sánchez and
Alexandre Cecatto. Ricardo Oliboni is the team manager, Cesar
Villalona the therapist and Yinet Cruz the statistician.
The Dominicans, vice champions of the previous edition played at
home in Santo Domingo, will compete in Pool A alongside
Argentina, Canada, Cuba, Guatemala and Peru in Trujillo.
The Preliminary phase of the competition kicks off on July 6 and
runs until July 10. Then teams will travel to change sites on
July 11. The quarterfinals, semifinals and finals will be played
in Trujillo. The matches for the 7 to 11 positions will take
place in Chiclayo.
In the history of the Pan American Cup, the Dominicans have been
on the podium in all but one of the 17 previous editions, with
four gold medals, nine silvers and three bronzes.
They finished fourth in 2012. |
