Dominican Republic remains undefeated in Pan American Cup
COLIMA, Mexico, August 4, 2025 – The
Dominican Republic defeated Venezuela in straight sets 3-0 (25-18,
25-10, 25-21), remaining undefeated with a 2-0 record in Pool B of
the XXII Women's Pan American Volleyball Cup being held in Colima,
Mexico.
The Dominicans led in attacks 44-30
and in blocks 9-3, while Venezuela led in serves 4-2.
The Dominican team's standouts were
captain Brayelin Martínez and Gaila González with 14 points each,
followed by Jineiry Martínez, who added 10.
For Venezuela, Nelmaira Valdez and
Mariangel Vivas led with 11 and 8 points, respectively.

coach: “In today's match, we were able to put all our players on the
court we served well, and our blocking was always well-positioned.
We had little information about the Venezuelan team, but the team
performed very well.”
Adrian Fiorenza, Venezuela coach: “We
had some pretty good moments considering we were facing a
high-level, very demanding opponent we're just starting out, and
this match helped us confirm the path we need to follow. We have to
improve a lot, but our expectations are high, and we remain hopeful
of a good competition.” |
