Pool A of the XIII Women’s Volleyball Pan American Cup at Juan
de la Barrera Gymnasium on Wednesday.
The solid blocking earned the Dominican Republic a 10-4 margin
in the blocking category, including three by Annerys Vargas and
Brayelin Martinez.

Vargas and Bethania De la Cruz with 9 and 8, respectively.

“We are very pleased after dominating the whole match as we did
all we know,” De la Cruz said. “We can’t celebrate too much
because this is a short tournament and need to prepare for
tomorrow’s match.”
“It was our first match but I am glad with the way we played,”
Dominican Republic’s coach Marcos Kwiek said. “This is a first
step for us but we did a lot of things well in the first match.
I liked our defense and our blocking and serving were good
also.” |
