Dominican Republic to the Final against the United States
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 25, 2023.- The Dominican
Republic defeated Cuba this Friday 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-19) and
advanced to the Final of the third NORCECA Pan American Cup Final Six
that takes place in the Ricardo Gioriber Arias Volleyball Pavilion.
For the Queens, the lefty Gaila González was the best scorer with 16
points followed by Bethania de la Cruz with 14. For Cuba Greisy Fine
finished with 10 points and Ivy Vila added another 7.
In the Final Las Reinas del Caribe will face the United States, while
Cuba will play for bronze against Mexico. Puerto Rico and Canada will
face each other for positions 5 and 6.
Marcos Kwiek, coach of the Dominican Republic:
I think we had a more solid match today, we knew how to control moments
of pressure, in the first set Cuba practically didn't play but in the
following ones they put a lot of pressure on us and we knew how to react
to make good decisions.
Leivis García, coach of Cuba:
It was a very good match, the Dominicans with their level today brought
out the best they had, they came out to defend the possibility of
defending the title and they did it, for my part I am very happy with
our group because they have They have been improving and things have
been done on the field that have been trained little and have been
