Dominican Sports Hall of Famers Offer Farewell to Ricardo Arias
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, March 21, 2025.– With an
emotional honor guard, Dominican volleyball offered farewell to
Ricardo Arias, one of the most iconic figures in the country's
sports history, recognized as "the father of Dominican volleyball."
The funeral honors took place at the Ricardo Gioriver Arias
Volleyball Palace, a venue that bears his name in recognition of his
invaluable legacy in the development of the sport in the Dominican
Republic.
During the ceremony, four inductees of the Hall of Fame and
notorious Dominican volleyball athletes, Milagros Cabral, Nurys
Arias, Priscilla Rivera, and Cosiris Rodríguez, paid tribute to
Arias with a solemn guard of honor and heartfelt farewell,
highlighting his fundamental role in the evolution and growth of
volleyball in the country.
The emotional farewell was marked by respect and gratitude for a man
whose dedication and passion laid the foundation for Dominican
volleyball at both national and international levels. His legacy
will endure in every generation of athletes who follow in his
