Dominican Superior League dedicated to Marte Hoffiz

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, January 30, 2019 – The second edition of the Women’s Dominican Volleyball Superior League dedicated to Cristobal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA and of the Dominican Female Program, will start on March 1.

Defending champions Caribeñas/New Horizons lead the four returning teams alongside Mirador, Guerreras and Cristo Rey. The event is scheduled to conclude on April 7 if the best-of-five Final Series extend to the limit.

The competition will take place at Ricardo –Gioriver- Arias Pavilion of Santo Domingo with single matches on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and a double-header on Sunday starting at 11:00 A.M.

The details of the competition were explained by Angel Rivas, president of the National District Volleyball Association and Horacio Mazara, president of the Organizing Committee, during a press conference held at the Ministry of Sports.

The ceremony was attended by Danilo Diaz, minister of Sports and Luis Mejia, president of the Olympic Committee and IOC member.

Rivas said the decision of dedicating the event to Marte Hoffiz was based on his achievements as director of the Female Program in all the categories included by FIVB. He had the support of the presidents of all the participating clubs.
