Dominican Team announced for FIVB Women’s World Cup
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, August 28, 2019 – The
Dominican Republic Volleyball Federation announced the
women’s team that will participate in the FIVB World Cup to
be played from September 14 to 29 in several cities of
Japan.
The twelve participants are the top two world ranked teams
from each of the five FIVB Confederations besides host Japan
and Serbia as current world champions.
The other ten squads are:
United States and Dominican Republic (Norceca), Brazil and
Argentina (South America), Russia and Netherlands (Europe),
China and South Korea (Asia) and Cameroon and Kenya
(Africa).
The event will follow the format of previous editions, with
the 12 participating teams involved in a single round-robin
competition over 11 match days. Three games will be played
at each venue each match day.
The Dominican team will travel on September 2 and will
establish a training base in the city of Okayama where they
will train and play exhibition matches with local teams.
The members of the Dominican team are:
Niverka Marte and Camil Dominguez, setters; Jineiry Martínez,
Lisvel Eve, Annerys Vargas and Candida Arias, middle
blockers; Bethania de la Cruz, Prisilla Rivera, Yonkaira
Peña and Brayelin Martínez, outside hitters; Gaila Gonzalez
and Gina Mambru, opposite hitters; Yaneirys Rodríguez and
Larismer Martinez, liberos.
The coach Marcos Kwiek will be assisted by Wagner Pacheco
and Wilson Sanchez with Cesar Villalona as therapist, Yeivic
Jiménez, as statistician and Ricardo Oliboni, as delegate.
The Women's World Cup will start with groups in Yokohama
(Yokohama Arena) and Hamamatsu (Hamamatsu Arena) over five
match days, before teams travel to Sapporo (Hokkaido
Prefectural Sports Centre) and Toyama (Toyama City
Gymnasium) for three more matches. The competition wraps up
in Osaka's Maruzen Intec Arena and Edion Arena.
