Dominican Team introduced by Pan Am Cup organizers
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, June 24, 2016 – The Dominican
Republic Women’s Volleyball National Team that won the gold
medal at the FIVB World Grand Prix Group 2 was introduced on
Thursday during a press conference held by the organizing
committee of the Pan American Cup
Major General Elvio Marcelino Feliz Perez, president of the
organizing committee, congratulated each one of the members of
the team and the technical staff, while saying the Dominican
Team will be a huge attraction for the fans in the Pan American
Cup to be held from July 2-10 in Santo Domingo.
Feliz Perez, who is the chief commander of the Dominican Air
Force, was accompanied by Luis Mejia Oviedo, president of the
Dominican Olympic Committee, Ramon Garcia, president of the
Dominican Volleyball Federation, and Cristobal Marte Hoffiz,
president of NORCECA Confederation.
“Our Dominican team is source of pride for all the Dominican
people and I am sure the fans from all over the country will
come to see them in action,” Feliz Pérez said. “They just
finished an epic battle at the FIVB World Grand Prix and
everybody is eager to watch them performing.”
It was informed that two daily matches –including the one of the
Dominican Republic- will be nationally televised.
“We have received a strong support from the private corporations
and governmental agencies as well as the Armed Forces,” he said.
“All National Federations and the Olympic Committee will be
assisting us with the transportation and the Armed Forces will
be in charge of security,” he added. “We are set to have one of
the most successful sport events ever organized in the Dominican
Republic with twelve national teams of high quality.” |
