Dominican Team receives delegation from Matsudo
YOKOHAMA, Japan, September 17, 2019 – A delegation from the
Tourism Office of Matsudo visited the Dominican Republic
Women’s Volleyball National Team while in Yokohama taking
part in the FIVB World Cup.
The city of Matsudo and the Dominican Republic Olympic
Committee signed an agreement through which Dominican
athletes will establish training bases in the Japanese city
prior to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The Matsudo delegation presented the Dominican team with
several boxes of pears cultivated in the Dominican Republic
and then exported to Japan as part of an agriculture project
sponsored by the Japanese government.
After the clubhouse exchange, the delegation took seats in
the Yokohama Arena to watch the victory of the Dominican
Team 3-1 against Korea.
The Dominicans are currently in sixth place with a 2-1
record and next play China and Russia (September 18 and 19)
still in Yokohama.
Then they move to Sapporo for matches against Kenya, Brazil
and United States (September 22-24), before concluding in
Osaka playing against Argentina, Netherlands and Serbia
(September 27-29).
