Dominicana wins explosive match against Argentina
TRUJILLO, Peru, July 8, 2019 - In an explosive encounter, the
Dominican Republic team beat Argentina by 3-2 (17-25, 25-17,
21-25, 25-21, 16-14) claiming its third consecutive victory in
the preliminary round of the Women's Pan American Cup.
Both teams showed the best of their attack. The Argentineans
sought to take advantage of the flaws in the Dominican defense,
but the winning team put up resistance and knew how to prevail
with the variety of their attack and the strength of their
blocking.
Gaila Gonzalez and Annerys Vargas contributed 21 and 12 points,
respectively, in the victory. Paula Yamila Nizetich and Lucia
Fresco had 19 and 18 points for Argentina, while Daniela Bulaich
chipped in with 15.
Coach of Dominicana, Marcos Kwiek: Today they were able to play
other girls who came to rest to recover from all the demands we
had in the League of Nations. We will seek to maintain our
growth rate for the coming matches and we can reach a good level
in the semifinals.

Dominicana is the only unbeaten team in the Serie A and on
Tuesday 9 will measure forces against Canada. Argentina, on the
other hand, with two victories (Canada and Peru), will play
against Guatemala. |
