Dominicans achieve a sensational comeback
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 27, 2019 – Host
Dominican Republic scored a sensational comeback from a 0-2
deficit to overcome Puerto Rico 3-2 (17-25, 21-25, 27-25, 25-23,
15-12) in a quarterfinal match of the U19 Boys’ Pan American Cup
on Saturday at Ricardo Arias Pavilion in Santo Domingo.
In Sunday’s afternoon semifinals, the Dominicans will play
Mexico, winner of Pool B at 5:00, while Chile will face Cuba,
winner of Pool A, at 3:00.
Fuhit Edouard registered a tournament-high 31 points and Dawilin
Méndez scored an all-time record 8 blocks among his 20 points as
the offensive leaders of the Dominican squad. Bryan Muñoz and
Brian Turbides had 9 and 8 in the winning effort.
Sebastián Negron and Diego Rosich were the best Puerto Ricans
with 26 and 22, respectively. Wilmer Hernández finished with 12.

semifinal I told the guys that it was going to be a difficult
match so they had to play with hearts out. The home fans also
