Dominicans add two more victories on opening day
ORLANDO, Florida, June 21, 2019 – Defending champions Dominican
Republic continued on the right track at the AAU National
Volleyball Championships winning two more matches on Friday at
the ESPN World Wide of Sports Center in Orlando.
The Dominican girls, who had defeated Puerto Rico earlier on the
day, added triumphs over Brazil and Germany to increase to 3-0
Flormarie Heredia notched 10 points as the Dominicans defeated
Brazil 2-0 (25-17, 25-10) to claim their second win of day one.
Heredia’s tally included 8 attacks and two blocks
Team’s captain Natalia Martinez contributed 2 aces and 2 blocks
among her 8 points. Romina Cornelio and Geraldine Gonzalez added
6 and 5 with 2 aces and four blocks, respectively.
In the third and last match of the opening day, the Dominicans
defeated the German side 2-0 (25-13, 25-12).
Madeline Guillen led with 12 points, including 2 aces and 2
blocks, Cornelio added 11 with three aces, Natalia also had 11
with three ace and Gonzalez had four blocks with 7 points. |
