PUNTA CANA, Dominican Republic, July 3, 2021 –
The men’s duos representing Dominican
Republic-A, Cuba and Puerto Rico have advanced
as undefeated pool winners into the
quarterfinals of the NORCECA Beach Volleyball
Qualifier to the Junior Pan American Games to be
held in Cali, Colombia starting on November 25.
Dominicans Oscar Martinez and Hayerling de Jesus
were the last to advance following their 2-1
(21-16, 20-22, 15-11) victory over Guatemala’s
Edgar Maldonado and Andre Nuyens in Pool C under
cloudy skies and light breeze in Punta Cana,
located in the north-eastern part of the
Dominican Republic.
Earlier on Saturday, Cubans Noslen Diaz and Luis
Reyes defeated Mexicans Raymond Stephens and
Miguel Sarabia 2-0 (21-15, 21-16) to claim first
place in Pool B.
Puerto Ricans William Rivera and Randall
Santiago were the first to advance after winning
their two matches on Friday in Pool A of three
teams. Pools B and C were composed by four
teams.
