Dominicans and Italians prepare for World Championship
SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, July 5, 2017 – The Dominican
Republic outscored Italy 3-2 (27-25, 25-22, 14-25, 18-25, 15-8)
in the first match of a friendly series ahead of the FIVB U20
World Championship to take place in Boca del Rio and Córdoba,
Mexico from July 14 to 23.
The Italian team coach by Luca Cristofani, will stay in Santo
Domingo until next July 11 when they will travel to Mexico. The
Dominicans, defending champions, are coached by Brazilian Wagner
Pacheco.
Vielka Peralta led the Dominican Republic with 24 points,
followed by Madeline Guillen and Yanlis Felix with 14 and 12
respectively. Geraldine Gonzalez contributed 8 points, including
three blocks, in the victory.
Italy’s Elena Pietrini had a match-high 25 points while Marina
Lubian and Alice Pamio each had 16 points.
Giulia Melli added 15 points in the loss. |
