Dominicans arrive in Italy and look forward to be among 10 best
teams.
ROME, Italy - The technical Director of Dominican National Teams
Project, Marcos Kwiek, stated that the main goal of the National
Women’s team that will begin their preparation at the FIVB
Women’s World Volleyball Championship on Tuesday is to be among
the first 10 places in the final ranking.
“To be honest, and to say things as they are, the Dominican
Republic team has to work hard, and we look forward to be among
the 10 best teams of the world.
That would be a great achievement,” Kwiek said.
He remarked that the team worked for 15 days in Slovenia in a
training camp, where the players got a good preparation. At the
same time, they played in a lot of scrimmage matches with
several countries.
He assumed that the adaptation to the European time zone is
important for a player to have a good performance.
He said that the results of the scrimmage matches were very
positive and everything worked as planned.
Team traveled to Rome
The Dominican team that will make their debut on Tuesday against
Germany at the beginning of the World Championship departe don
Saturday from Slovenia to Rome to conclude their final training
sessions.
“There is a good atmosphere among players. They have been
playing together for a long time and that is important,” said
coach Kwiek.
He also stated that all the team members are in good health.
This is a good sign and a different situation in comparison to
last August, where all the starters suffered from a Chikungunya
virus infection. |
