Catherine Academy Center of Belize City.
Dominican Republic had no difficulties in dominating El Salvador
with a powerful and solid performance, in their last outing of
the event. Dominicans finish in second place with 5-1 record and
24 points. El Salvador ends with 3-3 and 15 points, they have to
wait for the result between Belize and Honduras later on, for
their final position.
Dominican’s superiority was overwhelming, they held a 35-13
margin in kills, 8-1 in blocks and 15-1 in serves, they
committed 25 errors. El Salvador had 17 errors.
Middle blocker Wilfrido Hernandez and outside hitter Henry Lopez
scored 12 points apiece.
Jonathan Mercedes, of Dominican Republic:
“We weren’t expecting tough teams here in Central America and
losing to Guatemala took us by surprise. Now we will continue to
practice, we will play the Men’s World Club Championship in
October”.
Rodrigo Chavez, captain of El Salvador:
“We are going back home to rest, El Salvador hasn’t have any
indoor tournaments left for the rest of the year; the players
who practice beach volleyball will continue their activity. We
must think about our future preparation to put on a better show.
This was an awesome event, personally I had never faced
Dominican Republic and it gives me a lot of experience”.
