Dominicans close with 3-0 in Pool C of Pan Am Cup
HUACHO, Peru, June 12 2013 - Dominican Republic closed the first
round atop of Pool C after their third victory at Women’s
Movistar Pan American Cup.
The Dominican team defeated Mexico 3-0 (25-17, 25-13, 25- 18) to
finish with a 3-0 record to continue the road on the tournament
that will continue in the cities of Lima and Callao.
Prisilla Rivera concluded with 14 points and Bethania de la Cruz
closed with 11 points for the Dominican Republic. Mexican
Samantha Bricio tallied 14 while Lizbeth Seomara Sainz finished
with 10 and Alejandra Isiordia 9.
“It was a difficult match, we faced a senior team, but it helped
us to know where we are and how we can improve for the world
championship,” said Isiordia.
“Now we will face a more difficult round with more experienced
teams. This round was also difficult, but teams were younger,”
said De la Cruz.
For Mexico’s Coach Estanislao Vachino, the match was difficult.
“Facing a big team like Dominican Republic is not easy, but also
in some moments we had the chance to do big things, maybe
because of nerves or maybe because of fear of facing a more
experienced team, some girls didn’t want to play, but these are
the kind of matches you can learn from” Vachino remarked.
“Now we have to wait for the next round and who we will face. We
played at a good level, but I feel Mexico respected us a lot,
maybe because they are young, but I think that was a good chance
for them to train, and probably they could enjoy this match a
little bit more”. |
