Dominicans dispose of British Virgin Islanders 3-0 to remain
unbeaten in Group K
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, July 28, 2013 – The Dominican Republic
stayed true to form as they easily dismantled the British Virgin
Islands 3-0 (25-12, 25-12, 25-11) to remain unbeaten in Group K
of the 2014 FIVB NORCECA Men’s Qualifiers here at the
Multi-Purpose Sports Complex Sunday morning.
In a dress rehearsal for tonight’s rematch against Panama, the
Dominicans were ruthless in the spike as Wilfrido Hernanadez and
David Adames, both racked up 10 points each unleashing some
thunderbolts, which their opponents had no answer.
The Dominicans finished the preliminary round with all 3-0 wins,
having inflicted similar defeats on St Vincent and the
Grenadines and Panama previously.
And not expect any letting up against Panama in the title match
Sunday night, as Coach Oseil Vasquez is projecting even a better
showing.
“Expect an even better game tonight against Panama tonight than
what has done before; we are going to follow the trajectory we
have been following from the beginning… We are going to make
this happen”, Vasquez proposed.
Vasquez expressed thanks to the Dominicans living in Tortola for
the tremendous support they have given the team thus far.
“We have never met a Dominican reception like so big and so
enthusiastic with our home people “, Vasquez remarked with
gratitude.
The winner of tonight’s championship match gains an automatic
place in the third round of the qualification, while the runner
will be looking to be the best second place among the other five
other groups based on the rankings at the end of the year. |
