Dominicans even up series in Puerto Rico at 2-2

PONCE, Puerto Rico, January 14, 2017 – The Dominican Republic tied at 2-2 the friendly female volleyball series against Ponce Lionesses by winning the fourth match of the competition on Saturday night at Salvador Dijols Pavilion.

Yonkaira Peña had 13 points and Jineiry Martinez added 12, including five blocks, to lead the Dominican attack, one that saw Erasma Moreno and Jeoselina Rodriguez contributing 11 points apiece.  Veteran Annerys Vargas finished with nine points.

Taylor Simpson was the best scorer for Ponce with 17 points, followed by Dulce Tellez and Gina Mancuso with 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Ponce held a slight advantage of 3-2 in serving aces while both team scored via 11 blocks.
