Dominicans even up their record at 3-3 in World Cup
SAPPORO, Japan, September 22, 2019 –
The
Dominican Republic celebrated their straight-set win over
Kenya in the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup, but are
looking ahead to the important matches.
The Dominicans equaled their record at 3-3 after the 3-0
(25-17, 25-19, 25-19) victory over the winless Kenyans
(0-6).
Bethania de la Cruz, Brayelin Martinez and Prisilla Rivera
spearheaded the Dominican attack with 16, 13 and 10 points,
respectively. Annerys Vargas chipped in with 8 points.
Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: "We are happy to win
today’s match and collect another three points. We have more
important matches ahead and will prepare and practice for
them to win."
Kenya coach Paul Bitok: "We are disappointed to lose. We
started to make progress in our last match. We wanted to
play better but lost 3-0. We want to improve our reception
and play faster. Our aim here is to improve our quality. We
have to think long-term."
