RIMINI, Italy, June 20, 2021 - The Dominican
Republic finished the 2021 FIVB Women's Nations
League with a record of 9-6 in sixth position,
both unprecedented milestones for the NORCECA
side in the competition that began in 2018 and
the World Grand Prix that preceded it .
The Caribbean Queens resisted a strong reaction
from Germany before winning 3-2 (25-21, 25-22,
14-25, 25-27, 15-9).
Playing without the services of Brayelin
Martínez, with a slight injury, the Dominican
team relied mostly on Bethania de la Cruz who
finished with 22 points. Prisilla Rivera and
Lisvel Eve added 13 and 10 points, respectively,
while Jineiry Martínez contributed 9 and Gaila
Gonzalez and Yonkaira Peña each chartered 8
points.
Germany's Kimberly Drewniok was the best scorer
of the match with 25 points and was followed in
the losing squad by Hanna Orthman with 17 and
Lina Alsmeier and Camilla Weitell with 12 each.
The Dominican Republic had the upper hand in
attacks 61-60 and the fewest errors 25-33.
Germany was better in blocking 9-6 and aces
winners 10-4. |
