SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic,
August 31 2022 – Five-time Pan American Cup
champions Dominican Republic will be seeking
it’s second Final Sx crown in as many editions
when they start playing next Sunday at the
Volleyball National Palace in Santo Domingo.
The inaugural event was high-lighted in 2021 by
the retirement of long time Dominican star
Prisilla Rivera after 20 years of action with
the national squad.
The first Pan American Cup won by the Queens of
the Caribbean was achieved in 2008 in Mexicali,
Mexico under the wheel of Dominican coach Miguel
Beato Cruz. Then the 4 others were attained – in
2010, 2014, 2016 and 2022 following the
instructions of Brazilian Marcos Kwiek.
Thousands of spectators are expected in the
Santo Domingo venue, which has been renovated
with air conditioner for the comfort of the high
temperatures the country is enduring at this
time.
The other teams competing are United States,
Canada, Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
