SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, September 4,
2021 – Host Dominican Republic joined Canada and
United States as undefeated teams after two days
of actions at the Men’s Volleyball Pan American
Cup.
The three teams have 2-0 win-loss records while
Mexico, Puerto Rico and Suriname share the
bottom of the standing at 0-2.
The Dominican squad claimed a victory in
straight frames 3-0 (25-14, 25-7, 25-14) over
Suriname to complete the match schedule of
Saturday.
Hector Cruz and Henry Tapia, who only played in
the first two sets, led Dominican Republic in
scoring with 8 and 7 points, respectively.
José Mañón, coach of Dominican Republic: “It was
a relatively easy game so I utilized my regular
players for the first two sets and then went on
with the U23 players because they are qualified
to the Junior Pan Am Games and we need to keep
them in shape.”
Arturo Sabbatini, coach of Suriname: “To tell
the true I don’t know what happened in this
match. In the previous one we had longer sets.
Maybe the guys have some fatigue since we
trained hard to come here and needed some rest.
We need to keep working.” |
