Dominicans open winning over Puerto Rico at AAU event
ORLANDO, Florida, June 21, 2019 – Defending champions Dominican
Republic made a happy return to the International Female
Division of the American Athletic Volleyball Championships by
defeating Puerto Rico in their debut on Friday afternoon.
The Dominicans won the best-of-three contest 2-0 (25-17, 25-18)
at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Center in Orlando.
Madeline Guillen and Romina Cornelio each had 11 points to lead
the Dominican Republic with Cornelio scoring two aces. Geraldine
González added 8 points, including four blocks.
Later today the Dominicans are scheduled to play Brazil and then
Germany.
The Dominican Republic are preparing to participate in the FIVB
U20 World Championship to take place in Mexico. |
