Dominicans outplay Korea, USA improve to 2-0 in World Cup
YOKOHAMA, Japan, September 15, 2019 – The Dominican Republic
beat Korea 3-1 (25-17, 24-26, 25-23, 25-23) behind a
match-high 27 points from Brayelin Martinez at the FIVB
Women’s World Cup on Sunday.
Bethania de la Cruz contributed 19 points to the win, while
Jineiry Martinez and Prisilla Rivera added 11 and 10,
respectively.
The Dominicans leveled their record at 1-1 and meet Cameroon
on Monday.
In Hamamatsu, the United States improved to 2-0 after
defeating Serbia 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-15).
Karsta Lowe came off the bench to lead USA with 18 points.
Four other American players reached double figures –Haleigh
Washington (16), Kelsey Robinson (15), Jordan Larson (12)
and Chiaka Ogbogu (11).
The USA team next plays Argentina on Monday
