VALLEDUPAR, Colombia, July 4, 2022 – The
Dominican Republic women’s team played
volleyball by the book in defeating Bolivia in
straight sets (25-12, 25-13, 25-14) to stay
undefeated after three outings at the Juegos
Bolivarianos.
The Dominicans showed their depth as the coach
Cristian Cruz used his three setters – Camila de
la Rosa, Mia Liberato and Adriana Rodriguez- and
the effectiveness was the same.
Natalia Martinez led the winners with 13 points,
including 4 aces, while reserve players
Rodriguez and Seliann Concepción added 11 and
10, respectively. Middle blockers Estefany Rabit
(8) and Alondra Tapia (7) also contributed to
the balanced attack.
The Dominicans put their opponents against the
ropes with their strong serves as they totaled
17 winners from the service lines, including six
by Concepción and four by Rodríguez.
The Caribbean squad will be looking for the gold
medal when they meet the also undefeated
Colombia on Tuesday. The Colombians defeated
Peru 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) in the second
match of the day. |
