Dominicans prevail in a thrilling five-setter

KALININGRAD, Russia, July 16, 2017 – The Dominican Republic defeated Belgium in a five-set (3-2, 25-13, 21-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-11) thriller on Sunday.

The winners' top scorers, Bethania De La Cruz and Elizabeth Martinez, put 22 points on the board each, while Yonkaira Peña and Annerys Vargas contributed 17 and 11 points, respectively. Kaja Grobelna scored 21 for Belgium. 

In Macau, China achieved a victory at FIVB World Grand Prix Pool E1 in Sendai after subduing United States 3-2 (25-27, 25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11) taking revenge for the 3-0 sweep by the Americans last week.

USA Madison Kindon scored match high 23 points and her teammate Kelly Murphy did shine too with 22 points but it were China who finally emerged victorious with Xinyue Yuan scoring 21 points followed by Ting Zhu with 19.
