Dominicans receive support from diplomatic personnel
NAGOYA, Japan, October 7, 2018 – More than 20,000 spectators
crowded the Nagoya Municipal Gymnasium to watch the match
between host Japan and the Dominican Republic as part of the
Women’s Volleyball World Championship.
Surrounded by the enthusiastic Japanese fans, a small group of
Dominican fans waved their national flag and cheered every point
scored by their compatriots.
The match went to the five-set limit so there was plenty action
to cheer for and the Dominicans enjoyed the experience despite
the loss to Japan in one of the toughest battle of this edition
of the world championship.
The Dominican fans, led by General Consul Carlos Cepeda and
Counselor Minister Joselyn Saladin, made the trip from Tokyo to
Nagoya to support their compatriots. They were accompanied by
Dr. Lillian Fondeur who is visiting Japan.
The Dominican Republic team next plays The Netherlands and the
Dominican Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Héctor Dominguez has
confirmed his presence.
“It is a great honor for the Dominican team to receive the
support from our diplomatic representatives,” said Cristóbal
Marte Hoffiz, president of the Female Program of the National
Federation and president of NORCECA and First Executive Vice
President of the FIVB. |
