KORTRIJK, Belgium, July 14, 2021 – Serbia beat
the Dominican Republic 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-18)
in Pool F of the FIVB U20 Women’s World
Championship on Wednesday.
Serbia improved to 2-0 and secured a spot in the
round for the medals while the Dominican
Republic fell to 0-2 and will compete in the
playoff for the 5-to-8 positions regardless the
result against Poland (0-2) on Thursday.
Branka Tica led Serbia with 14 points while
Aleksandra Uzelac added 10. Geraldine Gonzalez
had 8 points for the Dominican Republic.
In Rotterdam, Russia defeated United States 3-1
(25-13, 25-22, 28-30, 25-23) in Pool E. Both
teams are tied at 1-1 behind Netherlands (2-0).
On Thursday, Russia plays Brazil and USA meet
Netherlands.
Anastasiia Chernova recorded 23 points for
Russia and Allysa Batenhorst topped the American
side with 15 points. |
