Dominicans with 9-0 in regular phase of AAU Championships
ORLANDO, Florida, June 23, 2019 – Defending champions Dominican
Republic U20 Women’s National Team finished undefeated with a
9-0 record in the first phase of the International Division at
the 46th Annual Volleyball Championships.
The Dominicans, who are preparing for the U20 FIVB Women’s World
Championship in Mexico next month, have won all their matches
without losing a single set. They will face Slovenia (8-1) for
the title on Monday at 12:00.
The Dominicans kicked off with a 2-0 (25-22, 25-15) victory over
Colombia Pony behind the offense of Flormarie Heredia and
Messalina Yosil who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Natalia Martinez (9), Geraldine González (8) and Estefhany Rabit
(6) also made significant contributions.
They went on to defeat China Hothot 2-0 (25-13, 25-11) with 12
points, including 4 aces and two blocks, by Natalia and 9 points
with six blocks by Geraldine. Madeline Guillen chipped in with
8, including 2 aces.
The third and last win of the regular phase was against Colombia
Voyager 2-0 (25-12, 25-17). Natalia, Flormarie and Madeline
finished with 10, 7 and 6 points, respectively. |
