Double win for both teams of Canada and USA

SAN JOSE, Costa Rica, November 22, 2013.- Both teams of Canada and United States in the men’s division, had a great start winning their two matches on day one of the NORCECA circuit tenth leg  in Costa Rica.

In Pool B Simon Fecteau-Boutin and James Battiston of CAN-A first took over Luis Morales and Franklin Flores of ESA-B 21-17, 21-11, followed by resilientEargenell De Cuba and Mitchel Daniel of Aruba by 2-1 (21-17, 18-21, 22-20). Canada’s B team, Josh Binstock and Samuel Schachter in Pool D had wins over Julian Bissette and Joseph Clercentof LCA 21-12, 21-14 and over Guatemala’s Luis Garcia and Erick Garrido 21-11, 21-17.

USA duos also went undefeated. Team A of John Hyden and Tri Bourne in Pool C, beat Julio Alvarez and Diego Alpizar of CRC-B 21-13, 21-12 and Jamaica’s Gatasheu Bonner/Shavoy Irving by 21-12, 21-10. In Pool D, William Montgomery and James Drost of USA- B, after droping the first set, had trouble dominating Garcia/Garrido of GUA by 2-1 (13-21, 24-22, 16-14) and then won to St. Lucia’s Bissette/Clercent 21-14, 21-18.

In Pool A, Mexicans Lombardo Ontiveros and Juan Virgen, as well as Nicaragua’s Gerald Umaña and Henry Hernandez, had only one match in opening day, both defeatedLuis Morales and Franklin Flores of ESA-A , 2-0 (21-14, 21-15) and 2-1 (26-28, 22-20, 15-11) respectively.
