Dr. Ary Da Silva Graça honored with “Golden Collar” Distinction and
Declared as President “Ad Vitam” of NORCECA
PORTO, Portugal, November 17, 2024.- In an emotional ceremony held
during the 39th FIVB World Congress, the NORCECA Confederation honored
Dr. Ary Da Silva Graça, outgoing FIVB President, with its highest
distinction: the “Golden Collar”, and declared him as President “Ad
Vitam” of NORCECA. This recognition highlights his visionary leadership
and unwavering commitment to the development of volleyball during his
presidency, spanning the period 2012-2024.
The “Golden Collar” is an award reserved for individuals whose
contributions transcend borders, marking a pivotal moment in the
evolution of the sport. Under Dr. Graça’s leadership, NORCECA’s
development programs have experienced remarkable growth, ensuring the
strengthening of volleyball across North America, Central America, and
the Caribbean.
As an additional acknowledgment of his tireless work and enduring
legacy, the NORCECA Confederation declared Dr. Ary Da Silva Graça as
President “Ad Vitam” of NORCECA. This designation underscores his
historic impact in solidifying volleyball as a universally accessible
and ever-evolving sport.
Both honors were approved by the 41 member National Federations of
NORCECA and presented by NORCECA President Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz during
the 39th FIVB World Congress, held November 15-17 in Porto, Portugal.
The proposal was read by NORCECA Secretary General Enrique Santis Rangel
prior to the ceremony.
Dr. Graça, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude for this honor,
emphasizing the importance of collective effort in achieving the current
milestones. He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the growth
of volleyball in all regions worldwide.
NORCECA celebrates this historic moment as a tribute to Dr. Graça’s
exemplary leadership and his vision of dynamic, high-quality volleyball
reaching every corner of the continent.
