								SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic, April 29, 
								2021 - The NORCECA Volleyball Confederation goes 
								through the sad moment of informing all its 
								members of the heartfelt death of Dr. Rafael 
								Lloreda Currea, president of the South American 
								Confederation and a friend and ally of ours in 
								multiple initiatives in favor of the development 
								of volleyball throughout the American continent. 
								. 
								
								Lloreda Currea died as a result of COVID-19 at 
								the Santa Fé University Hospital in Bogotá where 
								he was held for several weeks. He was 69 years 
								old. 
								
								Dr. Lloreda Currea was for many years president 
								of the Colombian Volleyball Federation and at 
								the time of his death he held the position of 
								treasurer of the Colombian Olympic Committee. 
								
								"We have lost a great volleyball leader, but 
								above all a close friend to whom we were united 
								by a brotherly bond of mutual affection," said 
								Cristóbal Marte Hoffiz, president of NORCECA. 
								
								Lloreda Currea, a member of the FIVB Board of 
								Directors, was part of numerous control 
								committees of intercontinental events such as 
								the Senior Pan American Cup in both genders, and 
								his valuable opinions and judgments always 
								contributed to a better organization of the 
								events. 
								
								In October of last year he was reelected as 
								president of the South American Volleyball 
								Confederation for the period 2020-2024 and a 
								month ago he was confirmed as treasurer of the 
								COC. 
								
								Lloreda Currea chaired the Colombian Volleyball 
								Federation from 1983 to 2008 and was part of the 
								Colombian missions to the Olympic Games 
								continuously from Barcelona 1992 to Rio 2016. |
